Observatorio del Teide

Location: Tenerife, Spain

Owner: Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC)

The Observatorio del Teide belongs to Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (Spain) and combine world-class facilities for night and solar time studies. Together with the Observatorio del Roque de las Muchachos, it forms the European Northern Observatory (ENO), an excellent place to observe the Universe.

In 1979, this Observatory became the birthplace of helioseismology, a technique that allows us to access the interior of our star through the study of its internal and surface vibrations. More than 40 years later, helioseismic observations are still performed at the Solar Laboratory of Teide Observatory, providing the longest time series of such measurements available worldwide.
