We would like to express our deep solidarity with those affected by the volcano on La Palma, the future home of the European Solar Telescope.
La Palma plays an important role for the European solar physics community. Its atmospheric characteristics and the clarity of its skies make the Roque de Los Muchachos Observatory (ORM) one of the most important astronomical sites in the world. There, some of the best images of the solar surface have been obtained, thanks to the Swedish Solar Telescope (SST) and the Dutch Open Telescope (DOT). It is the same location in the observatory where the EST will be build in the coming years. The beauty of its landscapes and the kindness of its people, some of whom are part of our team, make La Palma a special place where we have always felt welcome.
We encourage you to contribute to the recovery of the island through the following institutions:

Queremos manifestar nuestra más profunda solidaridad con los afectados por el volcán de La Palma, futuro hogar del Telescopio Solar Europeo.
La Palma ha desempeñado un papel primordial para la comunidad científica de Física Solar europea. Por sus características atmosféricas y la claridad de sus cielos, el Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (ORM) es uno de los enclaves astronómicos de mayor importancia mundial. En él se han obtenido algunas de las mejores imágenes de la superficie solar, gracias a infraestructuras como el Swedish 1m Solar Telescope (SST) o el Dutch Open Telescope (DOT). Es el mismo lugar del observatorio en el que se ubicará EST en los próximos años. La belleza de sus paisajes y la bondad de sus habitantes, algunos de los cuales forman parte de nuestro equipo, hacen de La Palma un lugar especial donde siempre nos hemos sentido bienvenidos.
